Original Character or Canon: Canon
Character
Given Name: Tom Marvolo Riddle Aka. Lord Voldemort
Surname: Riddle
Date of Birth: December 31, 1925
Age: 87
Lineage:His mother, Merope Gaunt, is directly related to the Slytherin line while his father, Tom Riddle Sr., was a muggle.
Face/Celebrity Claim: Ralph Fiennes
Physical Description:
His appearance over the years has shifted drastically.
In his younger years, he was handsome. Tom Riddle Jr. took after my dashingly good looking father, unbeknownst to himself. He was tall, with short dark hair, with a medium build. He had dark eyes, which, my few enemies would come to complain, showed no emotion. It's true though, they were never graced with the opportunity of seeing any of Tom's excitement over power, which many of his allies tell him, changes his countence completely. They may be exaggerating, but none care enough to prove them wrong.
Now, things are different. It's been many years since Tom Riddle, or rather Voldemort, has been anything close to 'handsome', and he much prefers it this way. He's even taller now, though none are sure how the man managed it. He's lost a great deal of weight, and all hair. The magic that he's known to use has what can be a violent aftermath for those who cast it. Voldemort personally changed his own face though, and that's what most people find so very horrifying. The Dark Lord have a serpentine nose, which might not be considered a nose at all under the circumstances, and his eyes are wide and red, slitted, very much like a cat's. It was all for a worthy cause, or so he considers it. Voldemort is much more formidable now and none may stand in my way
Character History: (Two paragraphs is the bare minimum.)
Tom Marvolo Riddle, as dubbed by his mother before her tragic death, was born December 31, the very last day of the year, during the night before the dawn of the new year, and he grew up in an orphanage, where he quickly learned how to effectively utilize his powers to inflict pain and cause fear among his peers, in order to control them. At the age of eleven, he was approached by Professor Albus Dumbledore, and was invited to join in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to further hone his magic skills (though not quite for the ultimate evil which he intended from the beginning.) He attended school, often vying to stay over summer break in order to escape the shame of having to return to the orphanage which he so loathed. Though Tom excelled in all of his studies and is known, to this day, to be one of the most accomplished students to reach the school, he was far more involved in finding out more about Salazar Slytherin, who he would ultimately find out through unidentified means was his ancestor. In doing so, he claimed his right as the heir of Slytherin and opened the Chamber of Secrets, which ultimately caused the death of another student. He would use this death to make his first Horcrux. It is also known that during his time at Hogwarts, he murdered his muggle father and grandparents and pinned the blame on his mentally insane uncle, Morfin.
Later, after his graduation, he would go on to work for Borgin and Bourkes as a salesman of sorts, easily adapting to a lifestyle of charisma and quick thinking. In this line of business he would be Hezibpah Smith and steal several artifacts from her before making a flighty exit to develop himself as the ultimate lord of darkness and re-enter the world ready to conquer.
He came back into being, claiming a many soon-to-be-known names as his followers, such as Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, and Bellatrix Lestrange, all at rather young ages, and it is known that he applied for a teaching position, but was denied out rightly by his old professor, and at that time, Headmaster Dumbledore. Tom Riddle, or Voldemort as he was known now, then proceeded to wage war on the first Order of the Phoenix, claiming many lives and ruining many more. Also, the vague mystery of his character is that during this time he managed to split up his soul and create seven horcruxes, himself included. These horcruxes include a journal, his father's ring, the diadem of Ravenclaw, the chalice of Hufflepuff, his snake (Nagini), the locket of Slytherin, and the last piece being kept within himself.
Finally, Voldemort would make his fateful attack on the Potters at Godric’s Hollow after making a follower out of Peter Pettigrew. He would kill Lily and James Potter, but be thwarted by Harry, who was protected by pure and unadulterated love, which he could never possibly perceive. He was utterly decimated, but not destroyed. In his flight away from the scene, he made a mistake in leaving part of himself and making little Harry Potter an 'accidental horcrux'. He went into hiding as a mere shadow of his former self, a ghost without form, and a flighty remainder of one of the seven horcruxes, for a lengthy total of 14 torturous years. He would return for the second time during the Triwizard Tournament with the aid of Peter and also Barty Crouch Jr, and this time, the protection of love would not be able to hinder the Dark Lord any longer.
This time, Voldemort was out for blood, but he wasn’t going to got for an all out attack. He would draw it slowly and kill his victim with time, much like a festering stomach wound. He would find what he had not before, and use it against those blithering Order members. He targeted the prophecy in the Department of Mysteries, but that plan failed as well, when at the crucial moment of the taking, the Order came in numbers and his group was overpowered, despite his infallible plan.
A year later, Voldemort ordered Draco to find a way to kill Dumbledore. While he really did want his former professor to die, this particular order was more of a punishment to the Malfoy family for allowing his old school journal (one of the horcruxes) to be destroyed. Lo and behold, Draco actually managed it, and the Headmaster of Hogwarts was deceased. The details of Draco's plan can be left for another story, since it never really concerned the Dark Lord in the slightest. (Put in proper terms, he didn't really give a damn about Draco anyway.) What was important, rather, was that with Dumbledore out of the way, Hogwarts was vunerable and unprotected. It was the ideal time for an attack.
And attack is exactly how the Dark forces reacted. They started in Hogsmede, led by the Dark Lord himself, on a rage of killling and destroying, seeing this small village as tainted with ideals which were never his own. It needed to be disposed of and rebuilt in his favor. The Order, of course, came to Hogsmede's rescue, but too late and too little. The Dark Lord ended up finding Harry Potter among their forces and dueling him until he was forced to retreat into the confines of Hogwarts territory.
Now, after the retreat, things get a bit hazy for anyone who sided with Voldemort, because changes were being made, quickly decisively, without their knowing. The Order was cornered, and they knew that death could very well be at their doorstep. Alastor 'Mad-eye' Moody', long term member of the Order saw this quickly, from his years of experience. He knew that only Harry could save their world when the time came, and he was their only hope. Because of this, he and many other faithful friends of Harry forced him to flee, though how they did so was unclear (least it be under the influence of the imprecio curse or perhaps something else), and using the polyjuice potion, Alastor transformed himself into Harry for the time being.
While all this was going on, Voldemort and his force of Death Eaters were making their way to Hogwarts to destroy the forces of the Order. They left ruin in their wake. The battle continued between the forces of dark and light, and Voldemort finally found the 'Harry' which he was meant to find, and decimated him in a mad fury. In time, the Death Eaters won, destroying most of Hogwarts in doing so.
This brings us to the current situation. Voldemort is in control as the Minister of Magic and now even more of a force to be reaconed with. He has every intention of now rebuilding Hogsmede and Hogwarts to more properly suit his needs. It has now come to light that Harry Potter is still alive, by Draco Malfoy, which I'm sure, unnerves the Dark Lord a great deal, having thought he was destroyed completely nearly half a decade ago. He's after the Order now and carefully watching every move the wizarding world makes, but he won't stay silent for long.
Personality&Quirks
Likes: Power, Slytherin, Pure bloods, Control, Snakes, Death Eaters, Reading thoughts
Dislikes: Muggles, Muggle borns, Half-bloods, Half-breeds, anyone who's not in Slytherin, Anyone who doesn't fear him, Anything connecting him back to his father.
Personality Sketch: (About one paragraph, please.)
He's childish, put very simply. He's been known to throw massive temper tantrums which usually cost more than one person their life, if something is to go wrong. He's vain, in that he can't stand for someone not to fear him, or not know about him, but he will never allow anyone to say either of his actual names. In this particularity about being addressed and respected, he's strict to the point of being sincerely insulted if his titles are said incorrectly, and those titles are as follows: He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named or You-Know-Who for people who don't have the mark, and The Dark Lord for those who do.
Tom centers his whole being upon being and power and having control, which makes him (you guessed it) a very controlling person. He's obsessed with having something his way or no way at all, which justifies his tendency to kill those who oppose him, and he does so often for there are still many who oppose. After years of mental tampering though, he might have legitimately lost his mind. No one really knows, for no one dares to ask, let alone, know how to go about without his leadership.
Quirks: (Eye-twitches, muscle-spasms, etc.) He tends to scare everyone.
The War
Affiliation: The Leader of the Death Eaters
Why: He founded his forces out of a need to control all and to erase his own less than pristine past, ancestry wise.

The clock chimed, summoning midnight. The bells sounded heavy, almost like an organ. The man before him was young, perhaps only two decades old, if that many at all. His whole body was animated, his head bobbing from looking at the bloodstained floor to him, back to the floor, to his knees. His arms twitched and jerked to life at his sides, and from his kneeling position he pleaded endlessly. The circumstances weren't right, and his target was so quick and far more experienced, and the weather was bad, and his wand had broken, and he had wanted to do it right. He had every intention of doing it right when he had set out.
But Voldemort was much beyond him now. The Dark Lord could only hear the bells, or rather the organ, and yet his jaw kept moving, at such a rapid pace, clanking much like a puppet. He rattled and rattled onward, his limbs jerking around, pleading for my good favor probably. This little marionette should be more worried about his life, the serpentine man nearly laughed. Nearly. He kept flailing and dancing about, his strings flashing a lovely and striking of sliver in the gloom of our meeting room. He prattled on until finally, the clock was done, and he was left with no breath at all. He finally chanced another look, his little wooden eyes so pleading. Rather than being interesting, this little one was more amusing and entertaining. This did not, in fact, change anything though. Amusement could not compensate for worthlessness.
Dancing, dancing, dancing, and wasting so much time. "You should save your breath, boy," Voldemort hissed. "for your last words." He drew out his wand in a fluid motion, like a bow testing the strings of a violin. Apparently all was in tune, for it was only a moment later that a green flash filled the space with an eerie light, and the marionette stopped moving.
